Seven Most Popular Instant Messaging and Communication Tools for Filipino VA Entrepreneur

I included a simple tutorial on how to install and launch an instant messaging program called Yahoo! Messenger on my last blog post. There are a lot of instant messaging and communication program out there that you can use as a virtual assistant. Actually hundreds if not thousands of instant messaging features are now available online but there are popular in the internet that you can use. You need to have not just one but as much as possible you need other program installed as well. It will depend on your client. Your virtual client maybe using other program too so I suggest to have it ready and installed too so that you and your client both have the same medium of online communication.

Here are the seven most popular Instant Messaging and Communication Tools for Virtual Filipino VA Entrepreneur. I said the seven most, but let me enumerate in no particular order.


Skype
Have you tried this? Skype is a free video and voice instant messaging service. It is one of the most used and popular online communication tools. There are millions (actually half a billion) of individuals, business owners, and internet marketers who use Skype to make free calls, video chat, send instant messages, share files, or make low-cost calls to landlines and mobiles. Yahoo! Messenger
Yahoo! Messenger or YM is probably the most simple instant messaging service. Yahoo! Messenger in not so popular in other country but this is still very popular in the Philippines. YM has the ability to make VOIP calls, video chat, and have voicemails go straight to your email inbox. There is a mobile version of Y!M that allows you to be notified when friends come online, so you can go on your computer to start chatting with them.

Google Video & Chat or Google Talk
It’s a video and chat program right from your Gmail, iGoogle, or in your Orkut page. If you have a Gmail account you can completely switched to Google's chat features. Since you have the option to chat exclusively on your GMail, there is no need to download any programs. Google also have another program called Google Talk, but you need to install this separately.

AOL Instant Messenger
AOL Instant Messenger or AIM has been around since the dawn of instant messaging. AIM is the standard messaging client that allows normal text chat and video chat. To tell you frankly I haven’t tried this program yet. Based from other reviews there are also few interesting about this program. Like most other chat programs, you can also use its capability to send text messages to mobile phones.

Windows Live Messenger
Windows Live Messenger, formally known as MSN Messenger, formally known as Windows Messenger are all the same program, allowing you to instantly connect and talk via computer. It is also most common used online communication tool. Windows Live Messenger (WLM) has the basic features that make a great communication tool, such as instant messaging, emoticons, and the ability to use your webcam for video calls. You can also send SMS in this program too.

ICQ
The name ICQ is a homophone for the phrase "I seek you". This is an adaptation of the Morse code callout "CQ", which means "calling any station". It is attractive, free, and blissfully simple to use. Unlike AIM, ICQ doesn't impose advertising, stock tickers, or other annoyances. ICQ features include sending text messages, offline support, multi-user chats, free daily-limited SMS sending, file transfers, greeting cards, multiplayer games and a searchable user directory.

Chikka
Chikka is an instant messenger that is very popular in the Philippines. Chikka will let you send free text messages to mobile subscribers, wherever you are, from the web or from a downloadable messenger. You can send free SMS to mobile phones in the Philippines by using this program. The new Chikka currently supports mobile subscribers of Smart, Sun and Globe. Since it’s now currently working here in the Philippines, you can use this if you have a Filipino VA client here in the Philippines. Good news! Chikka is now working to have Free Chikka Text messaging to other countries including the US, UK, Italy, Spain, Hong Kong, Guam, and Saipan. They are also developing Chikka for Iphone. That’s great and cool.
